Education Background

Dr. Payton is an Atlanta University Dual-Degree Engineering graduate. She earned her BA in Accounting and minor in Mathematics from Clark Atlanta University, and a BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.

She is a graduate of the Clark Atlanta University MBA Program.  During this time, she was a Time Inc. Fellow and worked in the organization’s logistics/manufacturing & distribution department in New York.  She continued to work with the Time Inc. group by providing vendor management and software testing consulting services.

Dr. Payton earned a Ph.D. in Information & Decision Systems (now Design and Innovation group) from Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead.  Her secondary area of study was Health Systems which included interdisciplinary coursework and research in the Schools of Medicine, Engineering, Nursing and Law.  She was a General Electric Fellow during her doctorate studies.

She worked at EY Consulting in the National Health Practice, Time Inc in logistics and distribution, and International Business Machines in manufacturing as well as supporting clients in healthcare, finance and insurance.
